Sound recording of interview with Arthur K. Bierman conducted by Peter Carroll. Describes his role in organizing opposition to the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) in 1959-1960; faculty union organizing (American Federation of Teachers) at San Francisco State University in 1952-1968; and offers a detailed look into the 1968-1969 student and faculty strike at San Francisco State.

The Arthur K. Bierman Papers consist of the papers of San Francisco State University Professor Arthur K. Bierman for the years 1957 through 1984. The collection documents Bierman's early organizing for the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), his involvement in the 1968-1969 strike at San Francisco State College, his work to abolish the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC), and his other efforts to defend civil liberties.

This collection contains materials collected by Daniel D. Feder during the 1968-1969 San Francisco State College student strike and the simultaneous and supportive faculty strike. The strike led to the creation of the San Francisco State University College of Ethnic Studies. Contains correspondence, memos, minutes, position papers, printed and handwriteen notes, newspaper articles, public statements, and other materials related to the strike.

The Harvey Yorke Photographic Collection consists of photographs, negatives, and color slides dating from May 1967 to 1972. It includes several images relating to the San Francisco State College strike, 1968-1969, including images of campus rallies and gatherings, police presence on campus, press conferences and meetings, strike activity, Samuel Ichiye (S.I.) Hayakawa, and elected officials. There are also two audio recordings.

This collection contains newspapers published during the 1968-1969 San Francisco State College student strike. Titles are the Daily Gater, Open Process, and the Phoenix. It also contains correspondence.

This collection contains material collected by Sharon Martinas pertaining to the 1968-1969 San Francisco State College student-led strike. It consists of subject files containing ephemera, position papers, newspapers, scrapbooks of clippings, posters and other materials related to the strike.

Describes his activities with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) before the San Francisco State Strike of 1968-69, the role of strike activists, leaders and opponents in detail, assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the student and faculty strike movement, and the long-term effects of the strike on faculty morale, the direction of faculty unionism, and campus life at San Francisco State University.

Sound recording of interview with Julian F. Randolph conducted by Harvey Schwartz. Describes his involvement in the San Francisco State Strike, the evolution of faculty unionism at San Francisco State University, his efforts on behalf of faculty rights as an Academic Senate representative and official, and key individuals responsible for the unification of the CFA after it had defeated the AFT as a collective bargaining agent for San Francisco State professors.

This collection contains materials pertaining the 1968-1969 San Francisco State College student strike and the simultaneous and supportive faculty strike. The materials were collected by librarian Helene Whitson during and after the strike events.
